I was on the road today to cover a story in a
remote area of Northern Ontario up on the Abitibi River. I came across this
bronze monument in tribute to 10 people who died in a plane crash in 1976 at
Abitibi Canyon. It shocked me back to
reality. I remember the crash. It was a Labour Day weekend. I was the first
reporter at the scene. The wreckage was
still burning. I had never seen dead bodies at a crash scene before. It was
grim.
