On being civil ...

Okay this is a rant, but if you know me, it will be civilized. I hope. I have noticed in recent times, especially with social media, that there is a spirit of meanness that runs through a lot of the comments on things like Facebook and Twitter.

This is especially true in Timmins when people get upset by decisions made by city government. Okay, we get it, you are not happy.  But the constant whining and name-calling is really getting out of hand.

I am getting so tired of it that I am getting close to shutting down any participation in social media at all.

I have been blogging here now for more than 10 years, and I do try to present my own rants and points of view in a civil fashion, even though there are time I get peed off.

I just think that before people hit the “send” button, they should take a breath and reconsider their words.
